The X-Files is returning for another 10 episodes

Fans of The X-files have just received some very exciting news.

The show will be returning to Fox for another 10 episodes, the network has announced.

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson have both signed on to return as Mulder and Scully, and creator Chris Carter is back as executive producer.

After the news was announced, Gillian shared some old photos with David on Twitter, writing, “You ready for more of this @davidduchovny?  #TheXFiles.”

He humorously replied, “Oh yes, Been ready since ’93.”

Fox president David Madden said in a statement, “Chris’ creativity, along with the brilliant work of David and Gillian, continue to propel this pop culture phenomenon, and we can’t wait to see what fresh mysteries Mulder and Scully uncover in this next chapter of The X-Files.”

The supernatural sci fi show originally aired from 1993 to 2002, and it was revived for just six episodes which aired last year.

The reboot received mixed reviews from critics but did very well in the ratings, prompting discussions about more episodes.

The X-Files season 11 is scheduled to begin production this summer and will premiere sometime during the 2017-2018 season.
