The supernatural sci fi show originally aired from 1993 to 2002, and it was revived for just six episodes which aired last year.
The reboot received mixed reviews from critics but did very well in the ratings, prompting discussions about more episodes.
The X-Files season 11 is scheduled to begin production this summer and will premiere sometime during the 2017-2018 season.
