Chris Evans lands the top spot on BBC’s highest-earners list

Chris Evans has landed at the top of the BBC’s highest-earners list, after the broadcaster was pushed by the British Government to disclose salaries.

The former Top Gear presenter, who hosts his own breakfast show on BBC Radio 2, made £2.2 million last year – more than double the amount of Graham Norton’s £900,000 salary.

Match Of The Day host Gary Lineker came in second with a salary between the £1,750,000 to £1,799,999 bracket.

The review also revealed that 96 members of BBC staff earn more than £150,000 for their work, and only one third of the people earning over £150,000 are women.

Radio 2 DJ and Strictly Come Dancing co-host Claudia Winkleman is the highest earning female, nabbing between £450,000 and £499,000 last year.

The information was embargoed until 11am on Wednesday morning, but was leaked by Piers Morgan on social media.
