Harry Styles calls schoolgirl injured in Manchester attack: ‘It’s given us a lift like you can’t imagine’

Harry Styles lifted spirits at the Manchester Children’s Hospital last week, after ringing a schoolgirl who was seriously injured in the Manchester terror attack.

The former One Direction star called Freya Lewis in hospital, where she is recovering from injuries she received in Monday’s suicide bombing that took place at an Ariana Grande concert in the Manchester Arena.

The 14-year-old was with her friend Nell Jones when they were caught up in the explosion, that claimed 22 lives and injured over 100 people.

Sadly, Nell lost her life, and Freya suffered fractures, lacerations and burns from shrapnel.

Freya’s family have now revealed through a blog released by her school in Holmes Chapel, where Harry is from, that the singer called her in her hospital bed.

“Firstly, Freya came around enough from sedation to look at her Dad, blow him a kiss and smile. Then Dad cried. ‘What could surpass that? I know you are thinking.

“Secondly, the phone rang, and it was Harry Styles. Freya woke up, Harry said he loved her, she said she loved him, then Dad said he loved him!!

“The PICU unit at Manchester Childrens Hospital has just been given a lift like you can not imagine! Harry, we salute you sir, Holmes Chapel is very proud of you!!!!”

Freya had taken Nell to the concert as a birthday present, and her family have revealed that Freya’s memory only kicked in on Sunday.

They said that she spoke of her “very personal and harrowing recollections of the detonation of the bomb and the aftermath”, and was also told about Nell’s death.

“We discussed the loss of her friend Nell, which she was unaware of up to this morning. Needless to say, these details and thoughts are Freya’s and it is for her to decide in the future what, if anything, she shares with others.

“She understands, with absolute clarity, what happened on Monday night and what injuries she has sustained. Freya’s response to all of this information has been incredible, beyond any words. Her strength is phenomenal and inspiring,” they wrote.
