Nick Grimshaw forced to apologise on BBC Radio 1 after Orlando Bloom says ‘pikey’

Nick Grimshaw was forced to apologise live on air after Orlando Bloom said the word “pikey” on BBC Radio 1.

The Hollywood actor said that he was “a pikey from Kent”, but later insisted that he wasn’t “taking a slant” on any communities.

According to the Press Association, after the interview Orlando said, “I’ve come from Kent and I grew up with a lot of, like, freewheeling, cool, interesting characters like that.

“I certainly wasn’t taking a slant at that at all. I’m very respectful.”

Thaaaanks for swinging by @orlandobloom and for putting up with Grimmy’s paddle-board questioning…

Radio 1 DJ Nick then told listeners that Orlando was “a bit of a loose cannon”.

“Apologies if you were offended by anything that Orlando may have said.”

“As with any live broadcast, we take great care to ensure all guests are briefed about their language before going on air. We apologised to listeners afterwards for any offence caused,” he added.

In the interview, Orlando also discussed THOSE naked paddle boarding pictures:
