She’s a Tweedy again! Cheryl officially drops Fernandez-Versini surname

Cheryl has finally reverted to her birth surname, Tweedy, after finally cutting all ties to her ex-husband Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini.

The new mother is often referred to as Cheryl Fernandez-Versini in the press, despite officially divorcing the French restaurateur last year, which resulted in her asking to be referred to by her first name only in recent times.

However, Cheryl’s boyfriend Liam Payne, who she welcomed first child Bear with back in March, has revealed that the former X Factor judge has officially changed back to her birth surname.

The singer revealed the news on BBC Radio 1 Xtra when asked whether it annoys him to hear that his girlfriend is still being referred to as either ‘Cheryl Fernandez-Versini’ or ‘Cheryl Cole’ in the press.

“Her name is officially Cheryl Tweedy now, but to be honest it doesn’t really bother me, we have a kid together, there’s a lot more to our life,” he replied.

Although the brunette was originally recognised as Cheryl Tweedy, as she rose to fame with Girls Aloud in the early 2000s – her surname changed both privately and professionally when she married footballer Ashley Cole, and again when she wed Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini.
