WATCH: ‘My Ireland’ poem will give you all of the feels

Up-and-coming poet Stephen James Smith wrote a poem about Ireland, and it has been made into a beautiful video.

My Ireland celebrates what it really means to be Irish, and will make you fall in love with the Emerald Isle all over again.

The epic poem is read passionately by Stephen over footage shot by music video maker and documentarian Myles O’Reilly.

The music being played in the video was especially recorded by Villagers’ Conor O’Brien and Colm Mac Con Iomaire of The Frames.

The lengthy poem was commissioned for this year’s St Patrick’s Festival.

The poet told the Irish Independent, “I spent the best part of six months on it.

“It’s a labour of love, although it probably is flawed. It’s my interpretation of what it means to be Irish today – a celebration of all that’s good, but also pointing out all that’s wrong.

The unfairness that’s become part and parcel of life today.”
