RTÉ staff warned Hughie Maughan that chemicals in fake tan could KILL him

RTÉ staff warned Hughie Maughan that cancer-causing chemicals in fake tan could KILL him.

The 22-year-old went viral on Sunday night after appearing on RTÉ’s Dancing With The Stars looking EXTREMELY tangoed after overdoing it on the fake tan.

Speaking since the tanning disaster, Hughie admitted that RTÉ’s make-up artists warned him that his excessive use of fake tan could prove fatal – due to chemicals that can be absorbed into the bloodstream.

“The make-up people warned me. They were saying there is some chemical in the fake tan which could kill me,” he told the Irish Sun.

“But that seems ridiculous to me because why would they give you something to put on your body, which would be dangerous if you overload on it. I did overload on it, I admit.”

Meanwhile, Hughie blamed his make-up artists for how dark he looked, as she was forced to use foundation that was once used on The Voice of Ireland’s Jamelia.

However, the make-up artist has since hit back at Hughie’s claims, and said that the reality star “kept piling more and more tan” and wouldn’t listen to her when she said he looked “ridiculous.”

“It is devastating to have people blame me,” she told the Irish Daily Mail.

“It’s a shame that such a handsome, funny, charismatic man feels the need to make a mockery of himself on TV for more attention.”
