WATCH: Laura Whitmore visits Nepal earthquake survivors with UNICEF

The presenter highlights the harsh realities for children in the country

Laura Whitmore has visited the earthquake survivors of the Nepal earthquake – and filmed her time to create a touching video

The earthquake, which occurred in April 2015, destroyed 8,000 schools in just 45 seconds and left many homeless.

The Bray native is an ambassador for UNICEF, an organisation that strives to promote the rights and well-being of children.

Laura visited the temporary schools that were set up in Nepal and talked to the children about why education is important to them.

She also met with girls who belong to Shakti Samuhi, a group that teaches girls how to protect themselves from exploitation and trafficking.

In the highly interesting and powerful video, the presenter shows the harsh realities many children in Nepal now must face.
